DAYTON — Afghan refugees settling in the Dayton area will be welcomed at a reception today at the Dayton Metro Library, according to a media release.

The Afghan Welcome Event will take place at 10 a.m. at the library’s second floor community room on E. Third Street.
The event will be hosted by Welcome Dayton in collaboration with Ohio Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the Dayton Metro Library, the release said.
Between October 2021 and July 2022, 119 Afghan refugees have settled in the Dayton region through the refugee resettlement program of Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley.
At today’s event, Afghan refugees can connect with each other and learn about resources and opportunities available as they establish lives in the local community, according to the release.
