MONTGOMERY COUNTY — One person was seriously injured after a semi rolled over on Interstate 75 in Miami Township Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at approximately 6:23 a.m. on I-75 SB near the 44-mile marker, according to a spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

News Center 7′s Taylor Robertson spoke to someone who said he saw the aftermath of the crash and was shocked.

“It was all backed up but it was pretty crazy,” said Wesley Porcelli.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Jeep Renegade, driven by Guillermina B. Neri, 61, of Dayton, a 1995 Kenworth W900 tractor-trailer combination, driven by Todd Johnson, 57, Fremont, and a 2024 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer combination, driven by Christopher Cooper, 43, Greenville, were traveling south on I-75.

The Jeep, which was traveling in the right lane, changed lanes and hit the Kenworth that was in the middle lane. That caused the Kenworth to veer into the left lane and hit the Volvo.

The Jeep then continued off the right side of the roadway where it hit a utility pole.

The Kenworth overturned in the roadway, blocking southbound lanes of travel.

The Volvo traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a guardrail and overhead Ohio Department Of Transportation (ODOT) sign/support.

Johnson was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Neri and Cooper were not injured.

I-75 southbound was shut down for over four hours and reopened late Tuesday morning.

Porcelli said he got stuck in the traffic.

“I was actually like 40 minutes late taking my girlfriend to work,” Porcelli said.

Wrecker crews were on the scene to clear the roadway.

ODOT was on the scene to remove and repair the overhead sign/support.

The crash remains under investigation.
