DAYTON — Amazon has announced plans to open a new delivery station near the Dayton International Airport in the company’s latest move to expand in the Dayton area.
The new 140,000-square-foot facility will be located at 3134 Lightner Road just north of the airport.
The new facility will create more than 100 full time and part time jobs with an average wage starting at $17 per hour.

“Amazon cares about the communities where we operate; this is why we’re proud to have created more than 41,000 jobs in Ohio since 2010 alone,” Amazon said in a news release. “These jobs support communities of all sizes, from cities like Dayton to smaller towns like Wilmington.”
Amazon said the new station will “power Amazon’s last-mile capabilities to speed up deliveries for customers in the Dayton area.”
The company already has a last-mile facility in Kettering.
It also will have an increased focus on electric delivery vehicles.
“Ranging from the physical layout to the electrical design, we are optimizing these spaces to offer flexibility and scale as we move closer toward putting 10,000 electric delivery vehicles on the road in 2022,” Amazon said.
Amazon plans to be in operation at the new site in 2022.
