Amazon Prime Day: When and where to find the actually good deals

Amazon Prime package

Amazon Prime Day kicked off today, which means there are sales on everything from vacuums to flat-screen TVs.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00 p.m., Amazon Prime Day is a time most shopaholics have on their calendars, and it’s a great time to get a good deal.

“They’ve got lots of good deals they’ve been promoting,” Kettering Resident Brittany Evers said.

Emily Foley is a shopping expert with the online deals site Retail Me Not, and she says that Prime Day is big for electronics, especially TVs.

“Like laptops, tablets, smart home devices, typically, you’re going to see top deals on, of course, the Amazon owned devices like Echo dots and Fire tablets. But even Apple is also going to have items on sale for Prime Day,” Foley said.

But she says Prime Day doesn’t always have the best deal out there.

“If you don’t need one right now, if you can hold off, you always want to wait and do TVs on Black Friday, because that’s always the best possible deals,” Foley said.

Competitors like Walmart and Target offer sales to rival Prime Day.

So no matter what you’re throwing in your cart, Foley encourages you to take some time and look around.

“The thing about being a savvy shopper is it does take a little bit of prep work,” Foley said. “Just a little bit of prep work can really help you save money.”

If you are getting the item you have had your eye on or just stumble on something you just have to have, make sure you are getting the best deal out there.

“It’s so tempting so I’m just going to check out and see what’s on there today,” Evers said.
