Ambulance, police cruiser crash while en-route to save possible drowning victim in Ohio

MARION — An ambulance and police cruiser crashed into one another while responding to a possible drowning in Marion County Monday afternoon.

Marion Police and Fire responded to reports of a possible drowning near Quarry Park just after 3 p.m., a spokesperson for the city’s fire department wrote on a Facebook post.

As units were responding, a police cruiser and an ambulance crashed into each other near the intersection of North Main Street and Fairgrounds Street. The crash injured two paramedics and one officer.

The two paramedics were transported to Marion General Hospital for minor injuries. The officer was initially transported to the same hospital, but was later flown to Riverside Methodist Hospital, a spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated.

As a result of the crash, putting the responding medics out of service, additional medical units were sent to Quarry Park to help the person who went into the water.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries and was listed in stable condition following treatment.
