The shelter is located in the 300 block of Washington St. in Chardon and can house up to eight men.
The Executive Director of the shelter, Nathan Long, said the donation was for $102,000.
“We were so surprised I got a call from our board treasurer and he was asking about an item on our AMA report and was like what is this 102,000 transaction? I pulled it up on our account and saw that our mortgage had closed,” Long said. “I ran down to the bank and an anonymous person went in and paid the mortgage off completely for the Men’s shelter. Not long after that we received a letter from the anonymous donor.”
The donation has given Geauga Faith Rescue Mission the opportunity to open up a women’s shelter next to the men’s shelter.
