DAYTON — The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has rescued even more beagles from a breeding facility in Virginia.
In July, 4,000 beagles were rescued from a mass-breeding facility in Virginia and transferred to the Humane Society of the United States to be put up for adoption.
Dayton originally took in 12 beagles in July and put them up for adoption — all were adopted.

Now, the humane society announced they have taken in 15 more beagles to be put up for adoption.
“We love how many people have voiced an interest in helping or adopting these beagles,” Brian Weltge, President and CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton said in a release. “We know they are going to get adopted quickly. We have a limited number and ask that those interested please be patient with us. We also encourage those who aren’t able to adopt one of these beagles to look at some of the other amazing dogs we have at our shelter who are waiting for homes as well.”
The dogs have to be cared for and examined by the veterinary team before they are able to be put up for adoption, according to a release.
The humane society said they hope most of the dogs will be available for adoption by Sept. 3 at their main shelter on Nicholas Road.
