Area school district placed under ‘code yellow’ after social media threat

HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Some Montgomery County parents picked up students in a bit of a panic after learning about a social media threat at area schools— including Northridge Local School District.

According to David Jackson, Northridge Local School District Superintendent, at 9:30 a.m. the school received a call from local law enforcement informing them of the social media threat.

School officials decided to continue the school day under a “code yellow.”

By 11:25 a.m. the school sent out an email informing parents of the social media threat at Dayton Public Schools and Northridge Local School District.

Some parents say the schools should have notified them when they first received the call from law enforcement.

“People are worried, it’s their kids. Any parent would be worried,” one mother told News Center 7.

Jackson said parents were free to pick up their child after showing identification, and there’s an active investigation on the threat.
