SPRINGFIELD — Two people arrested by Springfield police will face charges connected to two bank robberies in the city this week, police said in a release Friday.

Amanda Alvarado, 35, and James Givens, 39, were arrested during a traffic stop on North Race Street Thursday, about an hour after the Key Bank on South Burnett Road was robbed, according to police.

Givens is accused of robbing the Security National Bank on West Main Street Tuesday, while Alvarado is accused of robbing the Key Bank Thursday.

In both robberies, Givens and Alvarado allegedly passed notes to the tellers demanding cash before fleeing the scene in a blue car, investigators said.

Alvarado and Givens were booked in the Clark County Jail and are scheduled to be arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court Friday morning.
