Babies get festive wearing handmade holiday hats at NICU

Infants receiving care at the Cleveland Clinic’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NCIU) got dressed in Christmas pajamas at their annual Holiday Pajama Party, according to social media.

The Cleveland Clinic posted a video slideshow on its Instagram account.

“Oh, what fun it is to have a holiday pajama party with our babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit! Parents and caregivers helped dress these bundles of joy in festive attire. Their special crocheted hats are a handmade gift from the grandmother of one of our NICU graduates. Santa even made a visit spreading warmth and cheer! Having a baby in the NICU can be unexpected and challenging for families. Annual traditions like these are just one of the many ways the team works to help normalize the NICU environment, especially during the holidays.”

The babies donned holiday-themed outfits including some hand-crocheted hats.

The NICU on Cleveland Clinic’s main campus “is a Level IV, state-of-the-art 17-bed intensive care unit designed to care for newborns with the most complex medical problems,” according to its website.
