“Detectives responded to the scene as is protocol in instances involving the death of a child and are continuing their investigation into this tragic event,” said Dayton Police Lt. Jason Hall. “Initial indications are that there was no aggressive action on the part of the animal involved, however a referral was made to the Animal Resource Center to follow up on the animals in the home.”
Police went to the house in the first block of Findlay around 7 p.m. Dec. 31 after a person called 911 to say the child was in distress and not breathing, Hall said.
Once the investigation is finished, Hall said the department will present it to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office to see if any charges are warranted.
