News Center 7′s Cheryl McHenry has some dos and don’ts when it comes to school shopping.

Dos

  • Do set a budget. Know exactly how much money you willing to spend for the semester for students of any age.
  • Do shop on tax holidays. This weekend is Ohio’s Tax Free Weekend and it goes from Friday, August 5, at midnight until Sunday, August 7, at 11:59 p.m.
  • Do use those student discounts. Many stores offer a discount with a valid student id.

Don’ts

  • Don’t buy everything right away. Wait for sales. Sales swell in late August and early September after most students around the area are already back.
  • Don’t do it alone. Coordinate with friends and family so that you can buy in bulk.
  • Don’t pay more than you have to. Shop around, some local grocery and drug stores have better prices than office supply stores.
