David Simpson was booked into the Greene County Jail on Tuesday afternoon after being discharged from Soin Medical Center, jail records show.

David Simpson is accused of killing his father, Ora Simpson, 85, of Beavercreek.

A Greene County coroner’s investigator said Ora Simpson “sustained injuries on his neck consistent with that of a knife or a sharp edged instrument,” records showed.

After searching the home, police found blood on the carpet leading from the kitchen into the living room, as well as on a recliner and other items, according to the documents.

David Simpson told police “he had a verbal argument with his father, and claimed that (his) father struck him,” the statement of facts read.

“He further stated that he passed out and approximately eight to ten hours later, he found his father in the attached garage when he was taking the trash out,” court records showed.

Police wrote in their statement of facts, while David Simpson was being evaluated for some facial injuries, he made comments to police “that he used a knife to cut his father’s throat and stated this happened after his father struck him with a metal fireplace poker.”
