MIAMI VALLEY — Scattered snow showers and high wind gusts are expected Monday.
News Center 7′s Brandon Lewis spent time talking to a local Emergency Management Agency director for tips on how to best prepare for the upcoming wintry weather.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Miami Valley from 10 a.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Clark County’s Emergency Management Agency director Michelle Clements-Pitstick said there are a few precautions you should take before the weather hits.
- Have a fully charged cell phone
- Know how to safely use a generator
- Avoid using a stove or oven to heat your home
- Take it slow on the roads
“Being weather aware, tomorrow is going to be extremely important, especially with the 40-mile-an-hour wind gusts that are forecasted,” Clark County EMA Director Michelle Clements-Pitstick said.
Other EMAs in the Miami Valley have posted tips on their social media pages.
Some locals say they are ready for the snow, while others prefer warm weather.
“I’ll take the summer, 80, 90-degree weather,” Centerville resident Vicki Lobaugh said.
“I want to like throw snowballs, like Elf, you know, that seem like I’m so ready make some snow castles or whatever,” Waynesville resident Ellie Little said.

For those who plan to go out in the morning hours, expect scattered snow showers. Around noon, rain showers will mix into the precipitation.
Slick spots could appear on roadways throughout the remainder of the day, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologists.
“We always encourage everybody to have multiple ways to get their weather information, so whether that be an NOAA Weather Radio, local media outlets, National Weather Service, social media,” Clements-Pitstick said.
