If bankruptcy court approves the sale, the Big Lots brand will stick around and employees at stores and up to two distribution centers will get to keep their jobs.

“This sale agreement and transfer present the strongest opportunity to preserve jobs, maximize value for the estate and ensure continuity of the Big Lots brand. We are grateful to our associates nationwide for their grit and resilience throughout this process,”  Big Lots’ President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Thorn said.

Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, LLC is in charge of the sale and Variety Wholesalers is one of the retailers in the deal, according to the press release.

It is unclear what other retailers may be involved and how many locations they would keep.

As previously reported by News Center 7, hundreds of Big Lots locations across the country closed in 2024.

Soon after these closures, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
