COLUMBUS — A new bill is looking to stop resellers from snatching up limited-release, high-demand liquor.

Ohio State Sen. Bill DeMora introduced Senate Bill 320, which would require liquor stores to open up the high-demand bottles and reseal them upon sale.

The hope is the bill will prevent “flippers”, who are buying mass quantities of limited-release liquors with the intent to sell them on secondary markets like Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, etc.
The bill has been referred to the Agricultural and Natural Resources Committee; Ohio’s two-year legislative session ends Dec. 31.
Any bills that haven’t cleared the Senate and House will die and have to be reintroduced next year.
