NEW JASPER TWP., GREENE COUNTY — Body camera video obtained through a public records request shows several first responders working to rescue two boys who fell through the ice on Shawnee Lake in Greene County Monday.

Crews were first dispatched to the lake near Jamestown around 1:25 p.m. after receiving reports of two juveniles who were in the water after falling through ice.

According to witnesses, a neighbor heard the two boy’s cries for help after they fell through the ice and got the attention of three men.
One of the men grabbed life jackets while another found an extension cord and worked to rescue the children before first responders arrived.

First responders got the boys out of the water within 10 minutes of being dispatched, records show.
The boys fell through the ice roughly 30 feet from shore.
