Springfield man vanishes after leaving for work; Police just located his body

SPRINGFIELD — The body of a missing Springfield man has been found, police announced Monday.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the body of Justin L. Smith, 28, was found in the 800 block of South Center Street Friday after police got a call from a tipster saying they found a body, according to Springfield Police Sgt. James Byron.

Smith was reported missing on January 29, News Center 7 previously reported.

He was last seen in the 400 block of Linden Avenue, according to police.

Police said a relative who reported Smith missing said he had left for his job delivering food and did not return.

The investigation remains fluid and ongoing, according to police.

“We would like to continue, that people have information about how he was there, how he how he got there, information about maybe back cameras in the area, we’d love to take a look at them,” Byron said.
