UPDATE: Boil advisory lifted for Riverside neighborhood

RIVERSIDE — UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.

The boil advisory issued Tuesday for part of a Riverside neighborhood has been lifted, a spokesperson for the city said.

Residents are asked to run their bathtub faucets first, then any utility sinks, then any other sinks, for a total of 15 minutes. This ensures that their lines have been properly flushed.

INITIAL REPORT:

A boil advisory has been issued for part of a Riverside neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

According to the city, the boil advisory was issued after a contractor working in the area struck a water line.

The advisory impacts residents in the following boundary map:

Residents are encouraged to use bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes. As an alternative, residents can use tap water after it has been brought to a rolling boil for three minutes.

Crews will be in the area working into the evening, the city said.

We will update this story once the boil advisory has been lifted.
