DAYTON — It’s Groundhog Day, and The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery celebrated the event with a different type of hog, a hedgehog.
Walnut the hedgehog made her debut around 9:30 a.m. and predicted six more weeks of winter.
Guests were able to take part in pre-event activities and grab a seat for the main event starting at 9:00 a.m.

Taylor Hoffman, Boonshofts Director of Marketing, tells us “Hedgehog Day” is the original Groundhog Day.

“It comes from an ancient Roman tradition that was passed down through European folklore, in Irland specifically, and so if they saw a hedgehog in the beginning of February, it meant spring was on the way, " Hoffman tells us.
