1 dead, 4 injured after mass shooting in Springfield Sunday

SPRINGFIELD — One person is dead, and four others were injured after a mass shooting in Springfield early Sunday morning.

According to Captain Michael Kranz of the Springfield Police Division on the scene, crews were called to respond to a shooting outside a residence in the 1200 block of Clifton Avenue around 2:40 a.m.

A sergeant with Springfield Police Department later told us that five people were shot — three women and two men, their ages range from 19 to 24.

One of the women shot was pronounced dead on the scene, the four others were hospitalized.

Their conditions and identities have not been released.

The shooting is still under investigation at this time.

Kranz confirmed this is the second mass shooting in less than a year in Springfield.

Springfield PD said that no more information will be released until Monday.
