“This is my city. I’m here to represent it. It means so much to me that I’d be crazy not to,” Letner said to News Center 7 on Tuesday.
A recall petition with more than 500 residents’ signatures initiated the election.
Some residents believed the city council was not hearing their concerns about new developments in Brookville.
“In fact, there were multiple occasions where citizens would speak up and the mayor would laugh at them,” Jamie Laquinta, with the “Keep It Rural” initiative in Brookville said.

Signs like “Keep it Rural” are voicing some residents’ pushback on new developments.
Letner believes the petition was fueled by misinformation.
“After the fact and realizing how the signatures were obtained, it becomes evident that our citizens were lied to, deceived, and even intimidated,” Letner said.
“We can send a clear message to the city council that you will listen to your constituents. You will not laugh at us,” Laquinta said.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections will certify these results in the next two weeks, a spokesperson from the board confirmed.
