Buck Creek Marina remains closed as crews clean up unknown substance in water

MOOREFIELD TOWNSHIP — The marina at Buck Creek State Park remains closed Tuesday due to an unknown substance in the water, according to a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

The Buck Creek marina remains closed as agencies continue to investigate the source of the substance,” ODNR spokesperson Andy Chow told News Center 7.

Chow says that containment booms, flotation devices that contain the spread of a substance, have been deployed.

The substance has been contained to the marina.

ODNR is working with the Springfield Fire Division, Moorefield Township Fire Department, the Ohio EPA, and the Clark County EMA, Chow said.

The substance has not been identified at this time.
