BETHEL TWP., Miami County — A section of U.S. 40 reopened late Wednesday morning after being shut down for nearly two hours following a crash and sheriff’s office investigation, according to deputies.

The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 40 and state Route 202 around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday involving a van and a dump truck.
No injuries were reported in the crash, however the driver of the van ran from the scene after the collision, deputies told News Center 7. The driver, who was not identified, was captured and placed into custody shortly after the crash.

Potential charges in the incident were not immediately known. However, deputies said the driver of the van was being investigated for involvement in a domestic incident that happened before the crash. Deputies were still working to determine if the driver had any connection to the incident or if it played a factor in the crash.

Both U.S. 40 and state Route 202 were closed for nearly two hours but reopened around 11 a.m., deputies said.
