“It’s hard. My parents built this, it’s been here my whole life,” Howard said. “My kids were raised here.”
As shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, Howard said it “can never be replaced.”
A neighbor called Howard and her family on Sunday night telling her their camper was on fire.
“In my head, when it was really happening, it couldn’t be real,” she said.
Howard told News Center 7 that flames were engulfing the camper and fire crews arrived about 10 minutes later.
“There’s nothing savable,” she said. “Total loss to all.”
Her heart broke for her family camper and firefighter who was injured.
“Something collapsed and fell and hit him in the face,” Howard said. “And all I know, the only details I’ve been told is that he did have some broken bones to the face and was in the hospital, but doing better.”
Howard said her family spent this Christmas planning cleanup efforts instead of enjoying each other.
It’s unclear how the fire started, but that’s under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
