VIDEO: OSP chopper footage released in connection with pursuit into Phillipsburg

PHILLIPSBURG — A vehicle that previously sped off from officers last week was spotted again Monday and crashed leading to two people in handcuffs, Dayton police said.

News Center 7 obtained video through a public records request that shows about a dozen officers surround the vehicle after the crash.

Officers were working on a “gun reduction initiative” Monday around 11:15 a.m. and spotted the vehicle, which was then tracked by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit. The aviation and Dayton police followed the vehicle to the 49 Fuel gas station in downtown Phillipsburg.

“When our officers attempted to stop the vehicle at the gas station, it tried to flee again and hit a gas pump, a pole, and a police cruiser,” Dayton police said in a statement. “No one was injured and two people in the vehicle were taken into custody.”

According to a Dayton police incident report, police arrested Daquann Norman, 30, on suspicion of vandalism, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, failure to comply and possession of a controlled substance.

Norman is listed in the Montgomery County Jail, according to online jail records.

It’s not immediately clear why police first tried to stop the vehicle last week.
