Car hits, kills man, injures child in Clermont Co.

BATAVIA — A man was killed when a car hit him on a Clermont County road Saturday afternoon.

The Batavia post of Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a pedestrian strike on Old State Route 32 near Bauer Road in Batavia Township at around 1:21 p.m., a spokesperson for the department stated.

A preliminary investigation found that a pedestrian, later identified as Scott M. Miller, 46, of Batavia, was walking eastbound on Old State Route 32. The man was off the pavement edge of the eastbound lane when he stepped into the roadway and was struck by a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix.

The Pontiac was traveling eastbound on Old State Route 32 when it struck the pedestrian.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, the spokesperson confirmed.

The Pontiac’s driver was left uninjured during the crash. However, the juvenile passenger riding in the vehicle reported injuries.

The passenger’s injuries were minor. The juvenile received treatment at the scene by responding medics.

There were no reports of anyone being arrested during the pedestrian strike.

State troopers were assisted by the Batavia Police Department, Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Central Joint Fire EMS District, Clermont County Coroner’s Office, and Tarvin’s Towing.

The Batavia post of Ohio State Highway Patrol led the investigation into the crash.
