DAYTON — UPDATE:
Police said the suspect accused of hitting an unmarked police cruiser and causing an hours-long standoff has been arrested.

Dayton Police Lieutenant Mark Ponichtera said the suspect had a warrant for gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
The suspect was also wanted in connection to a homicide in Dayton last year, according to Ponichtera.
Authorities arrested the suspect around 6:30 p.m.
The suspect’s identity was not immediately available.

Police are currently looking for a person who’s accused of ramming into a cruiser in Dayton.

A countywide call for assistance was put out around 1:30 p.m. after a person allegedly rammed into a police cruiser in the area of W. Siebenthaler and Salem Avenues, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

After the cruiser was hit, the driver ran from the scene toward an apartment complex on Wentworth Avenue, and a countywide call for officer assistance was dropped. The countywide call for assistance has since been canceled.
News Center 7 crews reported seeing over a dozen cruisers from Dayton Police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
The area around an apartment complex on Wentworth Avenue has been blocked off with crime scene tape. As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the investigation caused the McDonalds on Free Pike to be temporarily closed.
The SWAT team arrived on the scene around 4 p.m.
