A family of four is still shaken up after a car crashed into their Centerville home early Sunday morning.

Police and fire crews responded to the residence in the 1100 block of Princewood Avenue just after 2:38 a.m.

The family declined to go on camera, but say the incident was quite a wake-up call.

The vehicle plowed through the yard, went over a light pole, and into the backyard patio, taking out a fence in its path.

As crews work to board up the home, the family will be staying in a hotel until an insurance company can check to see how much damage has been done.

Neighbor Patty Peyton told News Center 7’s Tavares Jones that the curb along Princewood isn’t well lit, but drivers should still pay attention.

“In this apartment complex, there’s a lot of children that live here, and they’re scattered from all ages. They do ride their bikes a lot, as you can see the bikes in the rubble, and they just need to slow down.”

Authorities haven’t released any circumstances about the crash, but we are working to learn exactly what led to the incident and if the driver will face any charges.
