DAYTON — UPDATE @ 3:25 p.m. (March 1):

A 33-year-old Harrison Twp. man accused of stealing a white SUV from Reichard Buick and crashing it into the dealership’s service garage faces formal charges.

Anthony Woods was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury for vandalism, breaking and entering, grand theft of a motor vehicle, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

INITIAL REPORT:

A man accused of stealing a vehicle from the Reichard Buick service center and crashing it through a garage door was captured after trying to flee from police.

Officers responded around 1:30 a.m Sunday to the car dealership at 161 Salem Ave. after receiving an alarm from the service center, according to a Dayton police report.

Anthony Woods, 33, was booked into jail on suspicion of breaking and entering, theft, vandalism, obstructing official business and resisting arrest, according to the report.

When police arrived on scene, officers “observed a white Buick SUV that was located inside of the Reichard Buick maintenance garage, start to back out of a bay.”

The driver accelerated and crashed through a garage door at the dealership and started fleeing from officers, according to the report.

Woods eventually crashed and jumped a fence behind a home in the 800 block of Riverview Terrance, where police took him into custody.

Woods was scheduled to appear Monday in Dayton Municipal Court.
