CareFlight Air & Mobile Services kick-off Drive Smart at local schools

Premier Health’s CareFlight Air and Mobile Services are launching its Drive Smart program at high schools in the region.

Drive Smart has been offered for over 20 years and is a nationally recognized mock crash program that gives high school students a real-life look at the consequences of poor choices before getting behind the wheel of a car, according to a release. The program is free and 30 high schools participate each year.

The mock crash involves a scenario with two wrecked cars that are staged to represent a crash scene immediately following a motor vehicle accident, and it involves 20 student actors.

The objectives of Drive Smart are to raise teen awareness of the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving, driving or riding without a seat belt and texting and driving, the release stated.
