UPDATE: Driver of car suffers serious injuries after crashing into stalled semi

CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 9:10 a.m.

The driver of a car suffered injuries described as “incapacitating” after crashing into a stalled semitrailer on state Route 4 in Clark County Friday morning, according to state troopers.

The crash was reported on state Route 4 south of state Route 54 around 7 a.m.

An initial investigation found a semitrailer hauling a tanker stalled due to a suspected mechanical issue on the northbound side of SR 4, state troopers said.

A car slammed into the semi head-on, trapping the driver inside.

The driver of the car was rescued and transported to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries that were believed to be serious.

The driver of the semitrailer was not injured in the crash.

The crash shut down both directions of state Route 4 for about an hour. The roadway completely reopened shortly after 8 a.m.

State troopers have reopened both directions of state Route 4 in Clark County following an earlier head-on crash Friday morning.

One person in a passenger vehicle was trapped after the crash, which also involved a vehicle with a trailer, according to dispatchers.

Reports indicate the trapped driver was rescued and transported to an area hospital. Their condition wasn’t immediately known, however emergency scanner traffic indicates they were alert and talking after the crash.

Additional details were not available.

Both directions of state Route 4 are shut down in northern Clark County following a two-vehicle crash, according to initial reports.

The crash was reported on state Route 4 just south of state Route 54 around 7 a.m.

One person is reported trapped inside their vehicle after the crash, however crews on the scene reported they were alert and talking, emergency scanner traffic indicates.

A CareFlight medical helicopter was requested by medics to the scene, however they were unable to fly due to weather conditions, initial reports indicate.

The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
