1 in serious condition after two-vehicle crash on U.S. 127 in Darke County

UPDATE @ 2:18 p.m.: Elizabeth Riley is in critical condition at Miami Valley hospital, according to hospital officials.

Brenten Peters and Jodie Turner are no longer listed at the hospitals they were transported to.

UPDATE @ 6:15 a.m - Sept. 1, 2018: A passenger that was involved in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 127 and State Route 503 Friday evening is listed in serious condition, according to a release by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: Two-vehicle crash in downtown Troy involved high school students 

Elizabeth Riley, 25, of Marion Indiana had to be extricated from the vehicle and transported to Miami Valley Hospital via Careflight after the black Fiat she was riding in entered the path of another vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Fiat, Brenten Peters, 27, of Upland, Indiana was traveling south on U.S. 127 when it turned southeast onto State Route 503 and entered the path of a tan GMC Yukon that was traveling north.

The driver of the Yukon, Jodie Turner, 55, of Arcanum, Ohio was taken to Wayne Hospital. Peters was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by Medflight.

Mr. Peters and Ms. Turner’s condition are unknown at this time, the release stated.

A small canine was also found in the Fiat during the extrication and will be in the care of the Darke County Animal Shelter until the owner is able to retrieve it.

The accident remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 8:50 p.m.: At least three people were injured in the crash on U.S. 127 and state Route 127 in Seven Mile, but their conditions are unknown.

FIRST REPORT - Aug. 31, 2018

A vehicle crash occurred Friday night on U.S. 127 and state Route 503.

Crews were dispatched about 7:25 p.m., according to Darke County Sheriff’s dispatch.

According to initial reports, one person was trapped and three people were injured.

Additional medics were requested and CareFlight is currently on stand-by.
