Cause, manner of death for Takoda Collins released

DAYTON — The Montgomery County coroner has released the cause and manner of death for Takoda Collins, the 10-year-old who died following “extreme abuse.”

Collins died from blunt force trauma in combination with compressive asphyxia and water submission (bathtub), according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

His death has been ruled a homicide.

Prosecutors said that Collins was abused and tortured for years.

His father, Al-Mutahan McLean, 30, is charged with four counts of endangering children, two counts of felonious assault and one count of rape under the child of 13.

Prosecutors allege McLean raped his son shortly before his death.

McLean called police on Dec. 13, 2019, saying he found Takoda unresponsive. He was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
