Celebrating Women’s History Month: Susan Gruenberg

DAYTON — WHIO is continuing to celebrate women across the community as part of Women’s History Month.

Today we would like to recognize Susan Gruenberg, a community volunteer for over 50 years.

Gruenberg is an expert organizer, fundraiser and was key in the effort to re-open the arcade in downtown Dayton.

She works with 35 non-profit organizations, including the Jewish Family Services, the Dayton Ballet, and the American Red Cross. When Gruenberg agrees to help with a project, no matter how big or small, you are guaranteed ‘success.’

We asked about her volunteering and why it’s important to give of herself, her time, and her skills.

“If we did nothing, nothing would happen. So just the least little something, can make somebody else happy, and make their lives a little bit better, and that’s what we’re all about,” said Gruenberg.

Dedicated to sacrificial service to her home and community, Susan Gruenberg is certainly a “diamond” in the Gem City.
