VANDALIA — The Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District has announced the completion of the roadway improvements to US 40 as part of the I-70/75 Airport Logistics Access Project, according to a news release.

The $12 million construction began 18 months ago and the occasion will be marked with a celebration ceremony today.
The event will take place at 10:00 a.m. at 2700 W. National Road in Vandalia at the former site of Park and Go, the release said.
The construction work included widening a portion of US 40 to five lanes from just west of Union Airpark Boulevard to Airport Access Road.
It also included improving the interchange at US 40 and Airport Access Road and general improvements to the water and sewer lines within the project area, according to the city of Vandalia.
Among those who will be are expected to be in attendance include Montgomery County Commissioners Judy Dodge and Deborah Lieberman, County Commission President Carolyn Rice and Crystal Corbin, executive director of the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District.
