MERCER COUNTY — A Celina man has been indicted on multiple charges connection to the death of a 2-year-old boy two years after he died of methamphetamine intoxication.
On February 11, 2020, dispatchers received a 911 call about a young child laying face down and unresponsive at a residence on High Street in Montezuma.
The child, identified as 2-year-old Ezra Siegrist, was administered CPR before being transported to Mercer Health where he was pronounced dead, according to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Dr. Timothy Heinrich, Mercer County Coroner, ruled Siegrist’s death a homicide. Detectives then began an investigation to find out how he ingested the methamphetamine.
Brandon Edwards, 29, was indicted on eight counts connected to Siegrist’s death on Thursday. He was arrested by deputies today.
Grey said Edwards was living at the residence and was in a relationship with Siegrist’s mother at the time of his death.
