Dangerous cold will be felt across the region on Wednesday and Thursday.

A COLD WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Preble, Montgomery, Greene, Butler, Warren, Clinton, and Wayne counties from midnight through 9 a.m.Thursday.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT:

the coldest temperatures will be felt across the southern half of the Miami Valley where the combination of a clearing sky and deep snowpack could allow temperatures to fall to the lower single digits and even below zero.

The current forecast low for Dayton is 6 degrees. Wind chills could dip to -12.

Further south, where clouds exit, freezing fog may develop. There is lower confidence in this, but the possibility is there. Freezing fog can make any surface slick, including sidewalks, stairs, handrails, etc. The bottom line — cold could cause problems. Be cautious.

THURSDAY:

Single-digit morning low temperatures give way to highs in the 20s Thursday afternoon. Sunshine is possible early, but clouds will increase as the day goes on.

FRIDAY:

Single-digit low temperatures again to start the day.

Increasing clouds with a chance for snow arriving during the afternoon and evening.

Expect widespread accumulations in the 2-3 inch range.

Some spots may hit 4 inches.

Everywhere across the valley has the same accumulation forecast right now.

High temperatures reach the upper 20s.

We will continue to follow this story.
