Child, 6, hit and killed by SUV had darted into street, crash report concludes

A 6-year-old Dayton girl struck and killed by a vehicle on Ingram Street last week had run into the road from behind parked cars before she was hit, according to a Dayton police crash report.

Genae Taste, 6, was struck by a Chevrolet SUV about 6:30 p.m. Friday. The child died at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

According to the report, Genae “unexpectedly darted east into the roadway in front of two vehicles that were legally parked against the west curb and in doing so was struck.”

The report does not list any citations for the driver and court records also do not show any charges being filed.

The report showed Genae was at fault in the accident.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has ruled her death an accident.
