Andrew T. Cain, 35, was booked into the Miami County Jail on a preliminary charge of gross sexual imposition. He is no longer behind bars after posting a $25,000 bond Tuesday, according to county municipal court records.

Troy investigators said the allegations involve inappropriate touching and they’ve been investigating along with Miami County Children’s Services and the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services for the last week.

According to court records, Cain allegedly “pulled her on his lap and put his hands between her legs touching her private parts.” The girl was reported to have been clothed, records show.

The incident was reported July 19 and was alleged to have happened July 10.

Troy police Capt. Jeff Kunkleman said they also are investigating other accusations of inappropriate touching. However, Cain has only been charged in connection to one accusation.

“There’s multiple victim allegations at this point that we’re investigating,” Kunkleman said.

Jack Cain, owner of the childcare and Andrew Cain’s father, said Andrew Cain has worked for JJJ Childcare since they opened 10½ years ago. Cain works as a bus driver, maintenance person and an assistant to help them meet student ratio requirements, said Jack Cain, who added that the allegations are not true.

A search warrant was served at JJJ Childcare Monday, when detectives learned Andrew Cain was working.

“This was a surprise as I was told earlier in the day that Miami County Children’s Services had informed JJJ that Andrew was not to be working or around children until the matter of the complaints was resolved,” an officer wrote in a supplemental narrative filed in court. “We were then further told that Andrew was on a field trip with Jack Cain, the owner and father of Andrew, at the Troy Country Club swimming pool.”

Police arrested Andrew Cain in the club’s parking lot.
