Comedian Chris Rock talked about the recent Dave Chappelle events at Wirrig Pavilion during the coronavirus pandemic saying there’s “a lot of weed” and “a lot of mushrooms” during an interview on Ellen Thursday.
“Dave’s got like a weed, mushroom chef that prepares amazing meals with weed and mushrooms," he said in the interview with Ellen DeGeneres. “We’re in a cornfield in a pandemic, what do you have left to lose.”

Both marijuana and mushrooms are illegal drugs in the state of Ohio and Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer believes Rock was just being funny with his statements on the show.
“Chris Rock’s a comedian. Chris Rock is probably looking for jokes," Fischer said. “People have been making jokes about marijuana and drugs for years. Hopefully that’s what he’s talking about.”
Following Rock’s comments, Fischer did speak with a woman who attended at least one of the events over the summer.
“She did tell me you could smell marijuana, but she didn’t see any mushrooms," Fischer told News Center 7′s Katy Andersen.
The sheriff said his department has not received any drug-related complaints stemming from the summer events at Wirrig Pavilion, but they have received one sound complaint.
“It’s not raised to the level that we would go out in mass and try to make arrests," the Sheriff said. “To me these are just comments right now, until we prove otherwise.”
