Cincinnati Bell changes name to altafiber

Cincinnati Bell announced it is changing its name beginning today.

The company will now be doing business as altafiber in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

According to the release, the company will be transitioning to altafiber over the next six to nine months.

altafiber said its mission is to provide individuals and businesses with the fastest, most reliable, future-proof fiber network that delivers gigabit internet speed. The company has also made partnerships with Greene County to build fiber networks for the residents living in those areas, according to the release.

“The word ‘alta’ is rooted in a word that means elevated, and that’s what altafiber is doing: We’re providing an elevated connection through fiber and raising the standard of service to our customers and the communities we serve,” the company said in a statement.

The company said it has invested more the $1 billion in the fiber network.

The company said customers will continue to get the same service as expected and the current leadership of the company will remain unchanged.

“We are proud of the Cincinnati Bell name, and it will always be a part of our history,” said altafiber CEO Leigh Fox. “We are still the local hometown company, with 2,000 employees across Greater Cincinnati who are dedicated to connecting our customers.”
