CENTERVILLE — The City of Centerville has announced a “new and improved” route for its annual Americana Festival.

According to a release from the city, because of the festival’s growth, the festival grounds will expand to include West Franklin Street.

Dozens of parade entries, including marching bands, floats, elected leaders, performers and more, will begin as usual at Centerville High School and travel west on Franklin Street. Instead of crossing the intersection with Main Street, the parade will make a left turn and travel south on Main Street in Uptown, the city said.

“We continue to look for ways to increase the footprint of the parade and festival. We cannot continue to grow to the north, so this improved parade path was planned carefully to allow us to keep the action centered in the heart of our community in Uptown,” Americana Festival Committee Executive Director Keith Weiskittle said.

The city says the new route accommodates for future festival growth and gives Uptown businesses an opportunity to engage in the festival and parade.

The festival will take place on Monday, July 4.
