SIDNEY, Shelby County — A community in Shelby County is mourning the loss of their retired police K9 Kilo.

K9 Kilo passed away at the age of 9 on Thursday, according to a post from the City of Sidney.

He spent several years patrolling Sidney with his handler, retired Officer Jim Jennings.
Kilo was a dual-purpose K9, capable of detecting illegal drugs and apprehending criminal offenders.
“Kilo was so much more to so many more people and his loss will be felt for years to come. Kilo will be missed by all of us in Sidney and especially by his loving family,” the post said.
