The Dayton City Commission reviewed the zoning application for the proposed plant during their meeting Tuesday evening.
Commissioners decided to postpone their decision on the zoning application.
Community members from Dayton and Trotwood were in attendance to voice their opinions.
Dayton resident Clayton Luckie told News Center 7 that he thinks the plant will benefit the city, but understands the hesitation from Trotwood community members.
“I think the Dayton side really wants it. It’s Trotwood side that has some concerns. So, we need to make sure their concerns are satisfied by doing a welfare check right now on the wells,” Lucky said.
News Center 7 previously spoke to Trotwood City Manager Quincy Pope, who said leaders do not want this plant near city limits.
“We got people on wells where this proposed project is supposed to go,” Pope said. “The developers say it’s minimal, if it’s more than 1% or 0% it’s important to the city of Trotwood.”
Saica’s project manager Juan-Antonio Miller spoke at another community meeting about the proposed plant.
“We don’t use PFAs. We have never and we are not going to. This is very important,” Miller said.
News Center 7 reached out to Dayton officials to learn what the next steps are for this proposed plant.
We will continue to follow this story.
