City of Piqua announces new mayor

MIAMI COUNTY — The City of Piqua announced that commissioners voted and swore in First Ward Commissioner Thomas Fogt as the new Mayor of Piqua and Second Ward Commissioner Cindy Pearson as Vice Mayor on January 4th.

“Community engagement is going to be a big focus for me, engaging with the citizens grasping their ideas on where they would like the city to go,” said Mayor Fogt.

The city said Third Ward Commissioner Kris Lee and Fourth Ward Commissioner Chris Grissom have been sworn in for another term ending in 2025 as a result of the 2021 election.

Amy Welker is now the director of Environmental & Recreation Services, the city said.

In addition, the city announced the Health Department has fully transferred to the Miami County Public Health Department.
