Clark County Sheriff’s Office warns residents about phone scam

If you get a call from someone claiming to be from Clark County Sheriff's Office telling you to pay money to take care of a warrant for your arrest, it's a scam phone call, a sheriff's detective said Friday.

"The Clark County Sheriff's Office WILL NOT call you on the phone to tell you there is a warrant and to come downtown," Detective Brian Melchi said in a statement.

"Furthermore, the Clark County Sheriff's Office will not call you to have a fine paid over the phone with gift cards."

Sheriff Deborah Burchett felt the need to counter the phone trick after several individuals called the sheriff's office Friday to report having received the phone call from someone identifying himself as "Andy Reynolds" of the sheriff's office, who was asking for cash or gift cards to cancel an arrest warrant.

If for any reason you have been a victim of this scam and have paid money to the caller, please contact the sheriff's office at 937-328-2560.
