Clearcreek Twp. officer moved to rehab, has a ‘long road ahead of him’

CLEARCREEK TOWNSHIP — Clearcreek Township Officer Eric Ney has been moved to a rehabilitation facility after a recent surgery to help patch a hole in his skull.

Ney was shot by a man on July 12 when officers were investigating a domestic violence call.

After being originally released from the hospital, Ney developed blood clots in the main arteries going to his lungs and doctors found air on his brain leading him to be put back into the intensive care unit.

Ney underwent recently underwent surgery to patch the hole in his skull, according to Clearcreek Township Police Chief John Terrill.

As of Sept. 20, Terrill said Ney has been moved to a rehab facility.

Terrill said doctors were able to remove the tubes from Ney’s brain at the end of last week.

Ney continues to deal with blood clot issues and “has a long road ahead of him”, Terrill said.
