In a letter, his church “Vandalia Baptist Temple” expressed the community’s shock after the shooting and appreciation of the support.

The church states that Ney is doing “remarkably well” but will still need love, prayers and support.

In the letter, the church said that Ney’s wife Lisa is overwhelmed by all the support from the community.

“She, as well as Officer Eric and their children, also wanted to express that his recovery thus far and the fact that he is alive is nothing short of a miracle,” the church wrote.

Vandalia Baptist Temple said on social media they will have a special time for intercessory prayer for Ney during Sunday’s service at 11 a.m.
