Columbus Zoo, Aquarium to welcome several new babies this spring

COLUMBUS — Zoo goers may notice some new adorable faces at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium this spring.

Over the past several months the zoo has welcomed new babies from some of their international species.

In January the zoo welcomed a male guereza colobus monkey named Jif.

Jif can be found with his mother, Jabari and father, Sekani in the zoo’s Congo Expedition exhibit.

The Columbus Zoo is one of only two breeding institutions in North America caring for the world’s smallest marsupial, the feathertail glider, according to a release.

The two joeys born this year are just a little smaller than the adults and can be seen in the zoo’s Nocturnal Building.

Lastly, the zoo welcomed two new aquatic family members — Stingray Pups!

The male cownose ray pups were born in February and can be viewed in their ‘playpen’ in Stringray Bay.

“We love seeing these healthy spring arrivals, and with each birth we celebrate the amazing diversity of wildlife from around the world,” Dr. Jan Ramer, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s Senior Vice President of Animal Care and Conservation said in a release.
